Hope was inspired by many powerful women including Helen Keller, Maya Angelou and Alicia Keys, whose words and example have given me hope. I thought a lot about Alicia Keys, her soulful style, and what a role model she is as I recorded this. In order to spread Hope, this song not only appears on “Wings,” but also on a compilation which benefits the ACLU.
lyrics
A storm of doubts swirlin' through my mind
Says success is something I'll never find,
“Not strong enough, not good enough, Nothing to give.”
Something higher sparks that fire, “Get out there and live!”
Seize the day and make a change, Seize the day and make a change
Seize the day and make a change, Make a change
Chorus: Gotta have hope, Gotta dive in
Life is a bold adventure so get out there and begin
Choose light in your dark, joy in your heart,
Wonder everywhere you see
Say yes, don't second-guess
Believe, oh, believe in hope, hope
Learning to enjoy the journey and put fear away
Learn from past mistakes, today's a new day
Been wanderin', wanderin', way too long
Holdin' in my story, imprisonin' my song
Seize the day and make a change, Seize the day and make a change
Seize the day and make a change, Make a change
(Chorus)
Don't know what lies ahead but I choose to make it good
One step at a time, no more could's or should's
Use my words and thoughts, all I got to uplift
No more sleepless nights wondering what if, Instead...
What if I can bring people together, Inspire harmony
Energy flows where attention goes so I open my heart and see
Hope dawnin', risin' in the mornin', A brand new day
Searching for treasures, simple pleasure, That light my way
Chorus: Gotta have hope, Gotta dive in
Life is a daring adventure so get out there and begin

I walked away from playing music ten years ago, disgusted with music and myself. SJ Tucker's songs have played no small part in bringing me back in a truly strange yet beautiful way. The blisters on my fingers and the gloom in my heart are nearly healed. I sat down my new acoustic guitar to write a comment about some heavy medicine and now I'm going to get back to my therapy. I can't thank you enough SJ! Keep up the good work! roddylloyd
